Contact ETAC Administration

This page shows the e-mail contact addresses for general enquiries and comments, and for ETAC bug reporting.

Support

There is no significant support for ETAC.  Your messages may not be answered, especially if the answers are in the documentation.  Do not expect to get an immediate response if you are lucky enough to get one at all.  If you do not get a response within fourteen days, you will probably not get one at all.  However, you can increase your chances of getting a response if you conform to the following list of “grammar police” rules, but don't hold your breath for a response.

  • Make sure that your message has proper English grammar.  That includes capitalising the first letter of sentences; not using shorthand words such as “U” for “you”; putting commas in the right places.
  • Make sure that your spelling is correct.  That includes using the correct: “their”, “there”, “they're”; and do not use “than” for “then” and vice versa.
  • Make sure that you separate your ideas into separate paragraphs.
  • Make sure that you do not create “verbal diarrhoea” — get to the point concisely.
  • You might consider using headings in your message.
  • You can use American English if that is your natural style.
  • If English is not your first language (or if you were daydreaming during English lessons at school), then consider enrolling in an English grammar class (if they still exist).
  • And remember, if you cannot be bothered using proper English grammar and spelling, then I cannot be bothered reading your message.

ETAC Bug Report

You can report any ETAC bugs at the following e-mail address.  Be sure to mention the Windows® version that you're using and the ETAC program identification of the program and source file (if any) causing the bug.  It would be useful to provide a sample program that creates the bug.  Please do not report suggestions as bugs; a “bug” is program behaviour inconsistent with the documentation.

Note that if ETAC is installed on an operating system later than Windows® XP then RunETAC.exe and ETACCompiler.exe may need to be made compatible with that operating system.  This can be done via the Properties ยป Compatibility tab.  Select “Run this program in compatibility mode for: Windows XP (Service Pack 3)” and “Change settings for all users”.  In some cases, ETAC will behave strangely if it is not made compatible as mentioned, but will behave correctly once it is made compatible.

Before submitting a bug report, please see the list of current ETAC faults.  There is no need to report a fault that is already listed unless further information can be provided.
